Department of Hydrobiology

Over the past decades, Department of Hydrobiology has been building expertise in research and education in the areas of ecology of freshwaters. Current areas of focus include:

• behavioural interactions among aquatic animals (in situ study, laboratory experiments)
• biological invasions of fish and invertebrates in aquatic environments
• ecology of oxbow lakes
• ecology of the lower Vistula River
• embryonic and larval development of freshwater fish
• factors affecting structure of pelophilous benthic fauna
• human impact on river systems
