Two researchers from the Department of Microbiology, Dr. Dominika Thiem and Dr. Kristine Petrosyan, participated in an international workshop organized under the framework of the SUSTAIN COST Action (CA21144). The event took place in Alexandroupolis, Greece, from 24 to 26 September 2025.

The workshop, titled “SUSTAIN Delves Below Ground at the Dawn of Climate Change”, brought together scientists from across Europe to discuss recent advances, share knowledge, and strengthen collaboration in the field of sustainable agriculture and soil–plant–microbe interactions.

This three-day event gathered experts and early-career researchers to exchange insights, explore innovative monitoring tools, and build international networks aimed at addressing soil and water salinity under climate change.

Participation in the workshop provided the NCU researchers with an opportunity to showcase their expertise, engage in networking activities, and contribute to the development of innovative strategies for sustainable crop production under challenging environmental conditions.

Their involvement highlights NCU’s active role in international research initiatives and its commitment to fostering collaborations that address global scientific and societal challenges.
